About the Gallery

Shoalhaven Regional Gallery Nowra serves as an exciting artistic hub for the South Coast of New South Wales. Each year welcomes a vibrant exhibition program and the Gallery prides itself on fostering dynamic Public Programs, presenting art, cultural and community events aimed at audience development, accessibility and education, for the enjoyment of the entire community. Our Gallery Shop supports local artisans with a diverse range of unique gifts, quality artworks and handcrafted objects.

Collection Strengths

Established over 40 years ago, the Shoalhaven City Art Collection has grown into a substantial collection. It includes works by important Australian artists, a strong representation of works depicting the region and by local artists, and a large collection of late colonial watercolours, oils and photographs of the Shoalhaven area by Samuel Elyard.

Programming Strengths

The Gallery presents a vibrant exhibition program featuring contemporary and traditional works, a diverse range of touring exhibitions by leading Australian and Shoalhaven artists, community based exhibitions and works from the Shoalhaven City Art Collection.

The Gallery offers artist led workshops and term based classes for adults, free guided tours, artist talks, self-directed gallery activities and a huge range of art activities for our creative kids. The education program offers a range of options to suit Early Childhood through to Secondary students. All education programs delivered to young people are designed to focus on learning intentions linked to curriculum outcomes.
