About the Gallery

The Manning Regional Art Gallery is a vibrant cultural hub, nurturing innovative artistic practice and fostering community engagement with the arts in the MidCoast region for over 30 years. The Gallery presents a program of diverse and inspiring exhibitions, performances and events, showcases work from emerging and established artists, high profile touring exhibitions and curated work. The Gallery is proud to have an active members’ group, The Friends of the Manning Regional Art Gallery, and a network of amazing volunteers, who support the Gallery in so many ways. It’s a place for people to come together and be inspired by what they experience, to meet, engage, be challenged and have some fun.

Collection Strengths

The Gallery collection has several focus areas with a large part of the collection relating directly to the works by the region’s artists or works which depict the local landscapes. Nudes and portraiture have a significant place in the collection which is supported by the Gallery’s biennial Naked & Nude Art Prize the prestigious biennial acquisitive Art Prize of the Gallery with a prize pool of $32,000 attracting artists from Australia and NZ. The winning work becomes part of the permanent Collection of the Gallery.

Programming Strengths

The Gallery’s programming engages our community as participants and audience through an extensive exhibitions program, special events and performances, public programs and education tours. Established partnerships with educators, environmentalists and community groups enhance our public programs with outreach programs. The Gallery regularly hosts Life Drawing Studio, TOTs Tours, Art Central Online and artist run workshops.
