About the Gallery
The Glasshouse Regional Gallery presents around 25 exhibitions each year featuring contemporary, Indigenous, historical, traditional, design and sculptural artworks, as well as a number of prominent social history exhibitions. The dynamic program is designed to encourage participation, creativity, innovation and life-long learning in a sustainable way, while creating opportunities to strengthen partnerships with creative industries, artists and local communities.
Touring exhibitions provide access to quality artists and cultural experiences not otherwise available within the region. A diverse array of public and education programs support the exhibitions. Highlights include: school tours; HSC, primary school and teachers workshops; sprouts family activities; private art guiding tours; adult craft spot workshops; artist talks and exhibition openings.
Collection Strengths
The Port Macquarie- Hastings Council Art Collection has two main themes: abstraction and landscape. The objective of acquiring artworks is to develop a local collection that reflects contemporary developments in Australian art while building on the existing thematic strengths of the collection. Recent acquisitions include artists who have made a major contribution to the cultural history of the region or maintain a significant national profile.

The dynamic program is designed to encourage participation, creativity, innovation and life-long learning in a sustainable way, while creating opportunities to strengthen partnerships with creative industries, artists and local communities A key objective of the Gallery’s program is to support artists within the local community and provide professional development opportunities associated with the exhibition program. Northern Exposure is a selected exhibition that is scheduled every two years and is open to all artists across the region.
