Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery
About the Gallery
Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery was first established in 2001 in Rigby House as a temporary gallery with plans to develop a larger, purpose-built facility in the future. Since opening, the Gallery has featured exhibitions and events that showcase the work of the region’s artists, local culture and touring exhibitions. The Gallery’s flagship art award, Still: National Still Life Award, has positioned Coffs Harbour as a centre for still life art.
An exciting future awaits for the Gallery in 2022 when it is due to open its new purpose-built home in Yarrila Place. The move will deliver a modern gallery with high ceilings, storage areas and multimedia facilities. Visitors can expect a much wider range of artworks, exhibitions, education programs and events not previously possible. Located in the heart of the CBD, the Gallery will share its home with the Regional Museum and Library, in the region’s new cultural centre.
Collection Strengths
The Gallery’s collection is being constantly enhanced to surprise, educate and inspire! This valuable cultural resource is a major drawcard for visitors, provides great learning opportunities and continues to shape our own cultural identity. Since the establishment of our own acquisitive art award, Still: National Still Life Award, the collection has grown significantly and helps to position Coffs Harbour as a centre for still life art. You can view the Gallery’s collections at Coffs Collections: https://coffs.recollect.net.au/
Programming Strengths
The Gallery’s programming enables deep engagement between our community and the exhibitions through workshops, ‘pop up’ community spaces, innovative online content, and partnerships with industry experts. We strive to build connections with children and art, making the gallery a place they want to go for life!
Exhibition Spaces
When the Gallery opens in its new space in 2022, four purposes built exhibition spaces will host a permanent Museum exhibition, a major touring or in-house curated exhibition, a space for local artists to exhibit and a multimedia space.
