Our mission:
To advocate on behalf of a network of professionally designed and managed public galleries and art museums in NSW so that these institutions can provide stimulating exhibitions and public programs for their particular communities.

About Regional and Public Galleries New South Wales

Regional and Public Galleries New South Wales (RPGNSW) is a peak organisation representing the interests of 48 publicly funded galleries from across regional and metropolitan NSW.

The objectives of RPGNSW are to promote the development, conservation and display of public collections including First Nations cultural materials, to promote audience engagement and education, to facilitate and promote networking with peer galleries both state and nationwide and to advocate and lobby on behalf of the sector. These objectives are met via the organisation of biannual conferences, the Alan Sisley Memorial Scholarship and more.

RPGNSW encourages new membership applications so that it may develop, promote and activate a vibrant membership base with a strong identity, ensuring the sustainability, awareness and contribution of the organisation on all levels as well as the galleries it represents.

Our goals:

  • to be an effective advocate for contemporary visual arts practice to government at all levels;
  • to provide networking opportunities for the sharing of information and expertise;
  • to tap into the massive body of experience that exists within the membership in working with communities and with local government;
  • to develop strategic partnerships to share scant resources;
  • to promote and extend public awareness of our unique network of dynamic galleries

RPGNSW acknowledges all Elders and Country Custodians of the lands on which our public galleries and art museums are located. We pay respects to all First Nations peoples and their continuing connections to land, waterways and communities.

RPGNSW acknowledges the ongoing support of Create NSW and Museums & Galleries of NSW.
